Ο Αρχαιολογικός Χώρος της Αμφίπολης, στον Νομό Σερρών, αποτελεί έναν από τους σημαντικότερους ιστορικούς τόπους της Μακεδονίας. Η πόλη ιδρύθηκε το 437 π.Χ. από τους Αθηναίους σε στρατηγική θέση κοντά στον ποταμό Στρυμόνα και εξελίχθηκε σε ισχυρό οικονομικό και πολιτιστικό κέντρο. Στον χώρο σώζονται τμήματα των τειχών, το γυμνάσιο, θεμέλια κτιρίων και νεκροταφεία, ενώ ιδιαίτερη φήμη έχει αποκτήσει ο επιβλητικός Λέων της Αμφίπολης και ο μεγαλοπρεπής Τύμβος Καστά, που χρονολογείται στα ελληνιστικά χρόνια.
The Archaeological Site of Amphipolis, located in the Serres regional unit of northern Greece, is one of the most important historical sites of ancient Macedonia. The city was founded in 437 BC by the Athenians at a strategic position near the Strymon River and later developed into a powerful economic and cultural center. The site preserves sections of the ancient walls, the gymnasium, building foundations, and cemeteries, while the impressive Lion of Amphipolis monument and the monumental Kasta Tomb from the Hellenistic period have drawn international attention.
