Settlement of Messaia-Topolnista was discovered in 1979 near Neo Petritsi in the Serres region, about 1 km from the Greek-Bulgarian border, on a hill overlooking the Strymon valley. Founded around 5100\u20135000 BC, it was a rural community whose inhabitants practiced agriculture, animal husbandry, hunting, and fishing.
